Instructions for Wednesday, May 7 CHARTER SCHOOL Rally Day
Baton Rouge, State Capitol Building

11 a.m.          Meet Caroline Roemer and the Louisiana Association of Public 
Charter Schools on the Northside of the Senate Chamber, 1st floor of State 
Capitol. You will be given a briefing packet and lunch ticket. Be sure to sign 
in.

11:30 a.m.          Meet on steps of Capitol for Rally
After speeches, feel free to add your comments from the live microphone

Noon to 1 p.m.     Brown bag lunch on steps of Capitol (FIRST 100 ONLY), 
provided by Caroline Roemer and the Louisiana Association of Public Charter 
Schools. You will need your ticket from the briefing packet you received at 11 a.m.

2 p.m. on          Contact your legislators with the information in your 
briefing packet; tell the results of your meetings to Caroline Roemer

Charter school principals, teachers, board members and even this class from 
Avoyelles Parish came to Baton Rouge on Wednesday, May 7 in recognition of 
National Charter School Week and told everyone who would listen: We love charter 
schools in Louisiana. Governor Bobby Jindal was moved enough to declare May 7 
Charter School Day in Louisiana. According to the Louisiana Association of 
Public Charter Schools, this is one of the fastest and most successful growing 
reforms in the country.   
There are 53 charter schools operating in eleven Louisiana parishes serving 
more than 21,000 families. Another 11 schools have been approved for opening by
