Since this child was treated as a probable case at the onset, the State Department of Health and Hospitals is not recommending school closure. However, although this seems to be an isolated and very mild case of the virus, out of concern for our students, staff and faculty, Audubon will be voluntarily closed Monday through Wednesday for the school to be sanitized. School will re-open on Thursday, May 7. Audubon Charter School and its Board will continue working closely with the School District and DHH to take all necessary precautions in regard to the safety and health of our school. The theme for this year?s National Charter Schools Week is ?Promoting Innovation and Excellence?. Nowhere in America?s Charter School movement is that theme more applicable than here in Louisiana. The propagation of Charter Schools in Louisiana is the pinnacle of both innovation and excellence in America.? Louisiana contains the only majority Charter School district in the Nation. This abundance of choice, empowerment, and increased parental involvement has led the turnaround of a long?struggling system.? School choice is the future, and Louisiana is leading the way.?? Thank you, dedicated educators and charter operators! Thank you, legislators, for making Louisiana hospitable to charters by giving them the autonomy they need to be effective!? Please enjoy the imbedded Charter School PSA.? Across the city, student achievement improved dramatically. These gains are truly significant and show the reforms underway are working. ? New Orleans?improved more than the state across all grades and subjects. ? New Orleans showed real growth in the percentage of students passing?the?promotional high-stakes LEAP and GEE tests. ? Significantly more students?met the state proficiency goal of Basic or Above.? This edition of Leslie's Notebook will focus on the high stakes tests - 4th and 8th grade English and Math LEAP tests, along with the Graduation Exit Exam - to highlight the tremendous improvement both this year and since the state took over the schools in 2006. ? These results include all schools under the Orleans Parish School Board and the Recovery School District, both traditional and charter. cheron brylski the brylski company 3418 coliseum street new orleans, louisiana 70115 (504) 897-6110 cell (504) 460-1468 fax (504) 897-0778 www.brylskicompany.com ************** Kick start your favorite grad?s career with mobile email for under $50.
