HackRF One can theoretically do everything YARDStick One can do, it is
a matter of writing software to perform the CC11xx modem functions on
the host. There is a gr-cc11xx project, but I have no idea what the
status of it is.

I assume that you mean the evaluation module from TI? The benefit of
YS1 over those is the improved radio section, the evaluation kits use
chip antennas which I believe are designed for one of the bands
supported by the CC11xx.
However, YS1 has TX/RX amps, an SMA connector, additional filtering
and antenna port power.

It really depends on how you intend to use the devices. I know of
some users who have multiple YS1s because they like the RF performance
and simplicity of RFCat; I also believe that the combination of HackRF
One and YS1 is very useful, as shown in Mike's rapid radio reversing
video.

Assuming that you are using your CC1101 module with RFCat, the
software interface will be the same as YS1. I do not know of any YS1
specific tools, although I presume that it would be possible for some
to be written in the future (as far as I know we do not plan to write
any YS1-only tools, we prefer to use RFCat as the basis for work with
YS1).
