Howdy Claudio,
If You want to go beyond widely used windows software like SDR# I'd
suggest You to get in cope with GNU Radio Companion (aka grc). It's a
GUI for interfacing DSP modules. Getting started reqires some time to
familiarize with digital signal processing rules (like complex/float
math, some sampling princples), but allows You to do a really nifty
tricks with not only SDR radios, but the signals processing in general.
You may go visit HackRF website and check out Mike's tutorials. There is
also a worthy set of videos by Balint Sebeer on YT:

that really goes into details.
Regarding to the transmission - I've always been keen on receiving, so I
cannot tell You much. Except, the HackRF circuit does not incorporate RF
band-pass filters (no anti-aliasing mechanisms) and it may spoil Your
transmitting signal with harmonics and other nasty things.
