if you open a terminal and type

 sudo tail -f /var/log/syslog

and then you plug in your hackrf

you should get something like this

So I have had my hackers for 3 months and it sat in a box. I plugged it into my laptop and tried a variety of ways to talk  to hit via USB including a powered USB.
However, I am worried I simply have a brick as I cannot flash the device and therefore cannot access and use all its wonderful features!
  Any help/thoughts/advice?
thanks so much 73's M0HYH Colin
