I've given up on the HackRF for that reason. Nobody connected with is is serious about making it
a usable, serious, product.

There should be no need to compile anything  connected to the OS for a serious product. 
The designers should generate truly, completely, utterly legal, bugfree DLLs for both 
32 and 64 bit software in C and C++ under Windows that will connect to C or C++ 
programs written using any compiler.  These should just work. That is, you just 
copy them to the directory containing your stuff and adter compiling your part, 
it should just work. 

AND ... ALL the connections to these DLLs should be properly anf FULLY documented,
and simple example programs should be made that use each and every dll call.

The available stuff does not work.
