We are currently brushing up on cognitive ability assessment in anticipation of some possible development work down the road, and thought it might be useful to ask the group a few questions.

- Are any of you developing new cognitive ability tests, or do you know of any that have been developed recently?

- Has anyone heard of any new question types that are working well?

- Are there any question types that should almost always be included in a cognitive ability test?

- Are there any question types that should generally not be used?

- Have you encountered any interesting articles or chapters concerning the assessment of cognitive ability?

- Has anyone collected samples of the various types of questions that they wouldn't mind sharing?

- Has anyone produced or encountered a list of do's and don'ts regarding the assessment of cognitive ability?

Thank you in advance,

Patrick McCoy, Ph.D.

P.S.: If you haven't already seen it, the following article is quite interesting:

Zysberg,L. (2009). An emerging new component of cognitive abilities in human resources selection: Preliminary evidence to the existence of a 'process-analytic' factor in selection batteries. International Journal of Selection and Assessment, 17 91), 69-75. (the author provide some preliminary evidence for a "process-analytic" factor in addition to the usual numeric and verbal factors)
