[IPAC-List] Changes to/Future of IPAC-List

I will say that although I rarely "open my mouth" here, I have thoroughly
enjoyed the comments and interaction that I have seen here.  The IPAC
listserve provides for me an opportunity to freely interact with you, the
consultants, in areas that are very important to the fire service.  I have
found no other source group to which I could turn with my questions, in
which I could quickly receive feedback and opinion.  I hold a great respect
for this group, and I hope to see it continue.

As Deb Whetzel noted in the January ACN, we're in the process of creating an
improved IPAC website (pardon our dust!). As part of some platform/hosting
changes associated with that effort, IPAC-List has been impacted.

At first, I thought that we'd have to discontinue the list; however, it
looks like it will be able to survive with a few changes.

One change is to our list archive. We no longer can run all of the back-end
software that created our own message archive and provided a search engine
specifically for it. I'm not sure whether I'll be able to change that or
not. I'm now using the archiving system built into the listserv software
itself, which works fine -- just no built-in search.

On a more positive note, I've been able to increase the message size limit
for the list, and (reasonably sized) attachments to messages can now be sent
to the list.

Regarding the future of IPAC-List, I (and the IPAC Board) am interested in
your thoughts. We have seen membership and activity on the list decrease
over the years. Is it indeed worth keeping if possible, or is it redundant
with our LinkedIn group? What value does it provide to you?
