[IPAC-List] Reliability of physical ability tests?

As a former firefighter for a department that adopted the CPAT, we found that the physical agility test was more demanding than actual fire ground work and it still excluded females. The test required some strategy to finish under the time limit rather than just being able to work your way through it. I had completed a half marathon about 4 months prior to performing CPAT. I was 1 minute and 19 seconds over the cut off time.

If the stair stepper portion were shortened, it might be a more valid test. Each of the individual tasks are valid. It's the running of the tasks one after the other that loses validity.

Just my two cents.
