Good question Lance,

To put some limits on it, would not include what might be labeled "unskilled," to the point where reading would not be required, as the test requires reading. Also, would not include skilled crafts, such as electricians, requiring highly specialized knowledge.

Given the above - Perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair. Duties may involve pipe fitting; boiler making; insulating; welding; machining; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment; and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs. Sample reported job titles include: Building Maintenance Mechanic, Building Mechanic, Equipment Engineering Technician, Facilities Manager, Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Person, Maintenance Mechanic, Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Technician, Maintenance Worker.

Thanks

Dennis

What is your definition of a Maintenance Worker? A job description would be helpful.

To any interested employers of Maintenance Workers.

IPMA-HR, working with The Center for Organization Research at The University of Akron and Doverspike Consulting, is in the process of developing a new selection test for maintenance workers, and we now need help from subject matter experts, SMEs, to take and evaluate our test. Don’t miss this chance to offer your input and help us develop a standardized test for this important position. If you yourself are a Manager of, Supervisor of, or Maintenance Worker, or consider yourself to be an SME, who might be interested in piloting this test, please reach out to Ryan Thibodeau, <mailto:rkt15 at uakron.edu> rkt15 at uakron.edu, of The Center for Organizational Research. for more information. We greatly appreciate any help and look forward to hearing from you!
