Information:   Opened last year, LouisianaConnections Academy (LACA) is a fully accredited, virtual public school thatcombines the expertise and accountability of public education, the strongparental involvement of schooling at home, and the flexibility oftechnology-enhanced learning.  Hallmarks of the online school includea high-quality and individualized education, cutting-edge technology, a provencurriculum, and highly qualified Louisiana-certified teachers.  Andbecause Connections Academy is a public school, there is no tuition. 
 
Louisiana Connections Academy is available to1,000 students in grades K-12 who reside anywhere in the state of Louisiana. 
 
The non-traditional learning environment can be agreat fit for all types of students including those who are significantly aheador behind in the classroom, those who need a flexible schedule or learn at adifferent pace from their peers, and those who need more individualizedattention or live in isolated rural settings. Homebound and previouslyhome-schooled students can also thrive in Connections Academy’s program.
 
During the in-person information sessions,participants will discuss how virtual schooling works, the types of students avirtual education benefits, Connections Academy’s noted curriculum, the role ofthe family, the enrollment process, and more.  Participants also willlearn how Connections Academy community coordinators arrange fieldtrips and extracurricular activities for students and parents across the stateas a means of education, fun and networking with others enrolled in theschool. Current Louisiana Connections Academy parents, teachers and staffmay attend these sessions.
 
Online, synchronous information sessions with aConnections Academy representative will also be held where families can learnabout Louisiana Connections Academy from the comfort of home.  There are also opportunities forparents to attend Parent-to-Parent Information Sessions, informal meetings withparents of current LACA students to learn about their experiences at LACA.
 
Louisiana Connections Academy is a virtual publiccharter school that was approved by the Louisiana State Board of Elementary andSecondary Education to serve grades K–12 and was recently approved to expandfrom 500 to 1,000 students. The school accepts students from anywhere in thestate.
