Top Cyber Chief for DHS to present at Homeland Security Forum

Senator Landrieu also to address cyber and other threats to US

LTC to present its 11th Annual event on the Role of Technology in Homeland Security

The Louisiana Technology Council (LTC), a member organization dedicated to advancing economic and social development through technology is pleased to announce that Mark Weatherford, Under Secretary for Cyber Security for the Department of Homeland Security will speak at its 11th Annual Homeland Security Forum on April 20th in Baton Rouge. Senator Mary Landrieu, who chairs the Appropriations subcommittee on Homeland Security will also present. Her sub committee is responsible for drafting legislation to fund the Department of Homeland Security's 20 offices and seven sub-agencies.

"This is the strongest Homeland Security forum ever done by the LTC and the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security (GOHSEP). With Cyber crime now the #1 threat to our country, organizations and attendees will learn how to better protect themselves from cyber crimes but more importantly, what we they can do to prevent being a victim of cyber activity,” said Louisiana Technology Council President Mark Lewis. "The importance of private and public partnerships and their collaboration cannot be emphasized enough in fighting this ‘invisible” threat to our nation. Our resources and infrastructure are at risk and this Forum will help educate the public on what we can do about it,” said Lewis.

The event will be held in Baton Rouge at the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security on Friday April 20th from 10 – 3:30 PM. Presentations will be provided by private and public experts from various industries with panel discussions to follow. This year’s event will provide interaction, feedback and suggestions by all in attendance. Exhibitors will provide information on solutions as well. A final report on the findings and recommendations from this conference will be provided to both Congress and all attendees following this forum. For more information on the forum and a complete agenda, please go to: www.LTC-LA.org.
