There was no error found and the program did not state that there was any database corruption. In fact it was unknown that the emails were sent out until people began to respond back stating "you already sent me this email". A few of the emails were from the previous day and a few were several weeks old. I have been unable to locate any helpful information via google searches or looking through the online Entourage help. Has anyone seen this issue before or could you offer any further advice about what might be occurring? Thanks! To start the dialog rolling, what is most important to you about the whole task delegation process that Outlook performs? Is it the ability to send a task and have someone accept it, putting it on his task list? Is it the ability to mark tasks as partially completed or update the status? Is it the ability to report those updates to the sender of the task? Is it the ability to do all this interactively with Outlook *and* Entourage clients or just between Entourage clients? Something else? Not everything is possible but with reasonable expectations folks may be able to develop ideas. -- bill William M. We've been away for a few days, so apologies for taking so long to get back. First you need to update to 12.1.2. See this page for help. There are some gotchas. Install Office for Mac 2008 with updates Hotmail accounts that were grandfathered should still be available. Error 18497 isn't listed on the Error Page, but errors close in number indicate it's a hotmail error. What I would try is moving the messages that you have downloaded from the Inbox from your browser to another folder (or delete them) then try the download again. That's a lot of emails. You can always archive from Entourage them if you need security. Then you can reduce your account size. Let me know if this helps. -- Diane From dianeross at mvps.org Fri Oct 3 00:55:09 2008 From: dianeross at mvps.org (Diane Ross) Date: Thu, 02 Oct 2008 21:55:09 -0700 Subject: In-Reply-To: Message-ID: SARAH YOUNG wrote: > like a peek about new emails I'm not sure if this might help, but you can use Growl notifications. WinShortcutter is probably the closest you'll be able to come. The problem is that no common file sharing protocol between Macs and Windows exists to allow you to link to files. Macs do not understand UNC paths (those Windows paths that begin with "\\servername"). And Windows doesn't understand Mac OS X's file sharing protocols for AFP nor SMB (those paths that begin with "afp://servername" and "smb://servername"). So, what file sharing protocols do they have in common? The only one I know is HTTP but most servers don't use HTTP for file sharing. If you haven't experimented with WinShortcutter's mappings feature then this may come close to what you're after. I'm not sure how well it works with network volumes but it's worth trying. It's not unheard of for Entourage to try to re-send a message it didn't think it sent, but in that case a) you should have seen something, and b) with an Exchange account you should see the multiples in the Sent Items folder. That makes me think that this was a hiccup with your actual Exchange server. The messages were likely re-sent at the server level rather than the client (Entourage) level. You can confirm this by comparing the Received headers of the duplicate messages - there will be a divergence at some point, likely after the message left Entourage. -- Adam Bailey | Chicago, Illinois adamb at lull.org | Finger/Web for PGP & S/MIME adamkb at aol.com | http://www.lull.org/adam/ From sarahapb at bigpond.com Fri Oct 10 02:22:25 2008 From: sarahapb at bigpond.com (SARAH YOUNG) Date: Fri, 10 Oct 2008 17:22:25 +1100 Subject: Message-ID: From steve_nunez at yahoo.com Sat Oct 11 19:51:20 2008 From: steve_nunez at yahoo.com (Nunez Steve) Date: Sat, 11 Oct 2008 16:51:20 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Delegating Tasks Message-ID: <750840.43564.qm@web36805.mail.mud.yahoo.com> Dear Entourage Users, Just hoping that someone out here has managed to figure out a work-around to send/receive tasks from Outlook. I know enough about computers to be dangerous so please bear with me. We have what they refer to as a ?connector? not a network. The problem goes this was, when I was back state side a used a Verizon broadband and this worked fine. I have a mobile me account and everything including iphone was working. Since arriving I have manually set all the internet connections via looking at other computers and on line help. Right now the wireless side of my system works but when I connect the cat 5 it states I am connected on the System Prefs but Sarfai or Entourage will not work. Entourage will not work on the wireless but this may be due to limited capacity. There are about twenty computers connected this server and the ip address to their ?server? is 83.137.59.246. Next I will copy and paste over information about system and network utility. I am running time capsule as well and that ip is listed as 169.254.180.85. I have checked three times all connections, taken cat five out of time capsule and plugged directly into macbook pro, I have plugged another computer into time capsule and it is on net. Sorry for the length of email but would appreciate any help, Iraq and out of touch. What, specifically, are you trying to get working? Wireless connection? Wired connection? Or can you simply not get Entourage to work? How does your Time Capsule fit into the mix? I can tell you from what you've provided that *any* 169.254.xxx.xxx address you receive means that you're not receiving an IP address for the network you're trying to join. Addresses in this range are "self-assigned" addresses. Mac and Windows computers will self-assign themselves a random address in this range when they can't receive an address from a DHCP server. Where you're seeing this IP address then you're having problems. Hope this helps! -- bill William M. I am using version 12.1.0 (080409) entourage 2008, and recently upgraded to Mac OS X Leopard version 10.5 (about a week ago) A few days ago, Entourage started crashing SOME-times when I opened or previewed an email from a specific sender. Over the last few days, the problem has progressed, and Entourage now crashes every time I view, open, forward, reply, or do anything with any email (new or old) from this same sender. I have confirmed that the sender is using a Mac as well, although I am not sure of what mail program or OS. This is not happening with any other sender, and is now 100% consistent with this specific sender. Old emails from this person which have been previously opened & filed are affected, as well as new emails. Please advise if you have encountered this problem and where I can start investigating. I have copied the Error information to the bottom part of this email. It is long! Cheers, Andy. The type of install you used could be part of the problem. Options to Install Leopard Please update to Entourage 12.1.3. and 10.5.5 for Leopard. I advise combo updater over the incremental updaters the you get through Software Updater. This might fix any problems you have with your base files. If not, you might need to do an "Archive & Install". Mac OS X 10.5.5 Combo Update (For both PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs ) When Installing the updates for Office, follow these steps: Under Help select "check for updates." When AutoUpdater shows up in the Dock, select to "keep in dock" Log out/in and hold Shift key down to disable all startup items. Select the AutoUpdater in the Dock and download the updater. Run the updater and restart. Restarting between each update is suggested. Now to your log: I see frameworks mentioned. A framework error normally means one or more components of Office have not been updated correctly and are now out of synch with other bits. Let me know if this helps. -- Diane From dianeross at mvps.org Tue Oct 21 19:28:42 2008 From: dianeross at mvps.org (Diane Ross) Date: Tue, 21 Oct 2008 16:28:42 -0700 Subject: [ANN] Revert to a previous version after a bad update Message-ID: Need to revert to a previous version after a update that is bad? You can not have multiple with just a POP or IMAP account. You can assign your contacts categories of "Work" and "Personal" to filter them later but when addressing messages you will always see both. I am currently in the process of migrating around 350 Entourage 2004-using Exchange mailboxes to a new Exchange cluster (2003). I was sort of under the impression that I would have to manually change the "Exchange Server", "Public folders server" and "LDAP server" settings in Entourage for each user individually. However, I've noticed that Entourage continues to find the mailbox on the new server even though the program is pointing towards the old one. Does Entourage query AD for this information? Is there any need to manually adjust Entourage in this case? Also, can someone point me to a source for more information on how Entourage works with Exchange? Additionally, is there a method for pushing out the settings that appear for an Exchange mailbox under Tools-Accounts in Entourage? This may be irrelevant if Entourage picks up the information from AD, but the old settings do still appear under Tools-Accounts. On a side note, for some users I receive an error (-18698) when opening Entourage after moving the user's mailbox. This is resolved by waiting awhile or rebooting the Mac, but does anyone know exactly what's going on in this case? Or another way to resolve the connection issue? I connect to our exchange server via https://mail.company.com. I get the message "Entourage cannot find the server. Verify the server information is entered correctly in the Account Settings, and that your DNS settings in the Network pane of System Preferences are correct." However, I can send and receive email. I have tried connecting via our exchange server address too - which does not solve the problem (I get the same message, but when I first start entourage I get "Unable to establish a secure connection to exchange.companydomain because the server name and IP address does not match the name or IP address on the servers certificate". I click OK, and still can send/receive email, but not get to the LDAP or public folders. I am running 12.1.3 version of Entourage. Any ideas?
