I have done the verify and the rebuild options in the database check utility when holding down the option key on launch. I have also created a brand new identity and re-downloaded all the mail but the user still gets the error message. When he gets the message he just clicks OK and keeps working. The user is running Entourage 2008 with all updates on OSX 10.5.6 and connecting to MS Exchange (Kerio). One option that can cause these false reports is a corrupted preference. Try deleting this preference file in your User's --> Library Preferences: com.microsoft.OfficeNotifications.plist Other options to check: 1) Bad RAM. 2) Being low on disk space. To check your disk space, use the Activity Monitor. Click on Disk Usage in the bottom menu bar and select the volume where you have Office installed. You can also use Disk Utility to see detailed information about a disk or volume. To learn more, open Disk Utility in the /Applications/Utilities folder and refer to Disk Utility Help. When you have a bad message, you need to use the old method of troubleshooting preferences in OS9. Divide in half and test. Rinse and repeat. I was doing a recovery on a database and found corruption in the sent items folder. It took over 30 tries to narrow down the problem message. Each time I would try to export as MBOX file, Entourage would crash as well as the Finder. In the end it was one message. I could open it in Entourage and copy the contents. When I tried to drag it to the desktop, it's icon wasn't correct and the file would not open nor would it allow me to delete it. In the end I put it in a folder and deleted it. That was one bad message. This way there is nothing saved and you are working on a blank slate. Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching. Test in the new User. You can drag files to the Shared folder for testing in the new User. When you are in the new User and drag from Shared, it actually copies so your data is safe. When you are testing an email account, always set to "leave on server" for the test. Remember to move your files back from Shared after you complete your testing. This is especially important for Entourage since it will create a new blank Identity and cause major panic. FWIW, Send & Receive problems are the hardest to troubleshoot. I also feel your pain. I've just installed Parallels and am so lost on the PC side it's pathetic. Cheers and Welcome to Mac! When mail get moved, it's generally a rule that moves it. Uncheck all rules and uncheck the Mailing List Manager rules as well. When you send does that help? To find where they are going, to a test send with an unusual word so that when you do a search, it will be the only result. It's very easy to set up a MLM rule by accident, when you are marking a message as 'not junk'. The wording of that dialog is ambiguous to say the least. Check if there is an MLM entry (look for MLM entries under the tools menu) with the incorrect destination folder as the target folder. In Entourage, whatever you put in an Account's "From" field is what shows up in the "From" field in your outgoing email. So put whatever you want into each Account, select the Account you want, and then your outgoing mail will be replied to according to that Account's "From" field. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Roger S. Note that this will only be the suggested return address - senders can still choose to contact you from your sending address - for example in Entourage, the Reply command will reply to the default reply address, but the Reply to Sender command will reply to the sending address regardless of whether a Reply-to header is present. What you are describing sounds like a forced update. I'm not sure I would recommend doing it this way. Bill might be able to give more info on doing this in a corporate environment, but let's first discuss the basics. An Entourage 2004 Identity is upgraded when imported into Entourage 2008. It can no longer be used by Entourage 2004. Shortly after Entourage 2008 was launched another change was made and the database was again upgraded. This resulted in the Identity that could not be used by 12.0.0. Generally a database created for a version can be used by any update unless there is an upgrade in the mix. There is a subtle difference between update and upgrade. Installing Office 2008 now, there should only be one upgrade that takes place if you fully update Entourage first. This is a very intensive process and often fails if there is any problem with the database. The upgrade of the database is only for mail that is stored in folders "On My Computer." If all mail is on the server, then there is no upgrade needed. Just install Entourage and update to 12.1.5. Create account and let it sync back up. An option to get around the upgrade database issue is to export your data from Entourage 2004 as Entourage archive (.rge) file. This can be imported directly into Entourage 2008. You do loose come category info on events, notes and tasks, but messages and contacts do retain categories. There are shareware scripts that will export everything, if this is something that is needed. I personally don't use Exchange so it's not my area of expertise, but Bill will chime in and correct or add to this. Hopefully, I've laid the groundwork on the process.
