[Hackrf-dev] Any Pentoo install lessons learned?

Mostly a Pentoo question follows, but figure some in HackRF-dev might have
some very current experience here.

https://github.com/mossmann/hackrf/wiki/Getting-Started-with-HackRF-and-GNU-Radio
points out latest Pentoo .iso (2014.0-RC3). All seems well in the livecd,
and the pentoo-installer prog on the desktop seems to go OK. When booting
the post-installed OS seems to be in a near crippled state. Can login, but
ability to startX or connect network lacking. (libXau.so.6 missing & eth0
interface not found)

Any pointers to getting this installed? (Undocumented steps? Should I use
RC2.1 & pentoo-update ? )

See this has some additional steps with running pentoo-installer, but
unclear if this applies to RC3
