Does your department require and/or have you heard of law enforcement
agencies that require sworn members to maintain a level of physical fitness
similar to the initial entrance standards for academies/State POST
requirements?
Are there any successful physical fitness/wellness programs for law
enforcement that departments are implementing to encourage physical
fitness/wellness among officers after completing the initial physical
ability testing for the academy? Or do you know of any programs that have
been implemented and have not been successful? Why do you think they were
not successful or what should have been done differently?
I would think this would be a tricky program to implement or navigate for
legal reasons in regards to storing the data (e.g., HIPPA), administering
test(s), relating performance to pay/time off etc.
Most approaches I have seen are voluntary/incentive-based with time off,
premium pay, etc.
Thank you,
